We had a group tutoring session last night, and a couple of the students I worked with were obviously tired. They did poorly – very uncharacteristic for them – on the evening’s practice reading and writing sections. And they were not as sharp as usual at absorbing the explanations when we went over their mistakes.

I am sure that fatigue was the main reason.

The fatigue problem is all the worse in that these tests are demanding, and certain questions require the student to bring it all to  see the fine distinctions on which correct answer selection may depend.

In most things, including SAT/ACT prep, we do not always get to schedule the optimal time; we have to make do. But expectations usually are high for test prep, and it is expensive. We’d like to get a large benefit for the time, energy, and money invested.

That means not being spent when you walk into your test prep meeting!

One possible answer is to work early in the day, before school. Aside from helping with fatigue, this can have other really nice benefits – take a look at https://transformationprep.com/off-hours-tutoring/.
